Ross joins the firm from Blick Rothenberg, where he worked for 18 years, having been made partner aged just 29 back in 2008.

Ross’s specific areas of expertise are UK owner-managed businesses and UK subsidiaries of international companies. With broad industry experience, he has a particular interest in the technology, property and recruitment sectors.

One of his main remits will be to enhance HW Fisher’s existing technology sector team: Ross has worked with and advised some exciting, high profile technology companies including a number of UK and NASDAQ-listed brands.

In addition to Ross’s appointment, the firm are making a number of internal promotions to partner as part of its ongoing push for growth. As of 1 May:

Helen James becomes a Corporate Finance Partner. Helen specialises in transaction services and is a director of Fisher Corporate. She has extensive experience acting as a reporting accountant on companies floating on the AIM and Standard market of the London Stock Exchange, undertaking company valuations and providing due diligence for companies throughout the M&A process. She is also an approved person under the Financial Conduct Authority.

Mandy Janes becomes an Audit Partner. Mandy has over 10 years’ experience in audit, acting for a number of corporate groups. These clients include in particular high-end commercial and residential property developers, fine dining restaurateurs, and specialty manufacturers. As well as being ACA qualified, Mandy also holds a PhD in Endocrinology. Mandy takes an active role in the mentoring and the career development of her audit staff.

Gilles Siow becomes an Audit Partner. Gilles has over 16 years’ experience in audit and advisory, acting for private and AIM listed entities. Over the years he has gained valuable insights into a wide range of industry sectors such as retail chain operators and hoteliers, national membership organisations, medical researchers, FCA regulated entities, and aircraft operators. His current areas of work include small and large scale manufacturing, energy and commodities, and technology, acting in particular for international businesses. Gilles has a leading role in the management of the audit department of the practice, and is keen to push innovation through the use of technology.

Joel Courts becomes an Audit Partner. Joel has been with HW Fisher for more than a decade and is a Physics graduate from King’s College London. Joel works closely with small partnerships to large international groups across sectors such as real estate, technology, fine art, recruiters and solicitors. Joel also has a large portfolio of clients for which he delivers a fully-serviced outsourced accounting function. Joel is actively involved in the recruitment process of both trainees and supervisors. He also acts as a mentor to trainees of the firm, helping them to reach their maximum potential.

Tim Walford-Fitzgerald becomes a Private Client Tax Partner. Tim has worked in Private Client taxation since 1999. In that time he has dealt with and advised on the tax affairs of a diverse range of high net worth individuals, their associated businesses, trusts and family matters. His experience covers a wide variety of clients, from the proprietors of modest businesses through to household names, particularly in the fields of property and media. He provides a full range of personal taxation services, from compliance and associated advice and enquiries to more detailed planning and structuring. Tim completed both the ATT and CTA exams at the first attempt and has been a core member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation Owner Managed Business sub-committee since 2008. Tim is also authorised to undertake Probate work.
