16th June 2025Act Now: Identity Verification Required for Directors/Persons of Significant Control (PSCs)

As part of the UK government’s efforts to increase corporate transparency and combat economic crime, the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act now requires all company directors, Persons with Significant Control (PSCs), and certain other individuals to complete identity verification through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) or directly with Companies House.

We want to inform you that HW Fisher is a registered ACSP and is fully equipped to support you with this new compliance obligation.

To remain compliant with the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, you must ensure that:

  • All directors and PSCs of your company are identity verified

Failing to complete identity verification could result in serious consequences such a committing a criminal offence, financial penalties, being unable to act as a director or register a new company, and potentially being removed from the register.

Existing directors and PSCs must have their identity verified by Autumn 2026.

We recommend completing this process well in advance of any planned filings or annual confirmation statement due dates.

If you require any assistance with this process, please get in touch with one of our experts at HW Fisher.
